What is a Slot-1 flash cart?
A: For a quick answer, a slot-1 flash
cart is basically a device that allows you to play backups of games
on your Nintendo DS or DS Lite. We sell all flash carts that utilize
inexpensive microSD, or Trans Flash (TF), memory cards.
Not only do these cards support commercial games (called roms), but
they also support homebrew (free software made by gamers and
enthusiasts) games and applications. Flash carts also enable your DS
to play a variety of software such as MP3s, movies, read e-books,
and some even support PDA functions.
Another feature of a slot-1 flash device is it allows you to run
emulators. You can play your favorite NES games right on your DS!
Without saying any more, this is a must have for any DS owner. You
can have music, movies, e-books, PDA, NES games, DS games, homebrew
games, and more, all on a single cart the same size as any Slot-1 DS
game! How cool is that??
History of flash carts
Flash carts started back when the
Gameboy Advance was popular. However, the term "flash cart" is misleading
with these new generation carts. In the old days, carts came with
non-removable memory. Since they contain flash memory, they were
named "flash carts". Today, most slot-1 flash carts that utilize
removable memory do not contain any flash memory in them. They do
sell slot-1 carts with built in memory but we choose not to sell
them because they cost more then if you were to purchase a removable memory cart plus a
microSD memory of the same size. Also, expanding your cart's memory
is as simple as popping in another microSD card.
